Depuis le début de cette pandémie de covid-19, il circulent des informations non avérées, susceptibles d’induire les population en erreurs. Dans son discours le 19 mai à la nation le président de la république n’a pas manqué de relever les fakes news qui circulent sur la maladie au Cameroun. « Mes chers compatriotes, la première chose que je voudrais vous dire en ce jour est de ne pas céder à la panique, et de ne pas croire les fausses informations véhiculées par les réseaux sociaux notamment. Le défi est certes grand, mais nous sommes capables de le relever ensemble comme nous l’avons fait en de nombreuses autres circonstances. Je veux aussi que vous sachiez que le Gouvernement, sous mon impulsion, fait le maximum possible pour nous sortir de cette grave crise sanitaire », a déclaré le président de la République.
Pour limiter la propagation des fausses informations et des fakes news sur la maladie au Cameroun, l’association Smart Click Africa avait déjà lancé au mois d’avril 2020 une plateforme web de factcheking, d’information et de sensibilisation et donner la bonne information sur la maladie, baptisée Covid19.CM et accessible à l’adresse www.covid19.cm.
D’entrée, la plateforme donne des informations sur l’évolution de la maladie, notamment le nombre de cas infectés, le nombre de personnes guéries et le nombre de décès. Elle renseigne aussi sur la maladie, les symptômes, les bons et les mauvais gestes, et sur l’attitude à adopter en cas de symptômes inquiétants.
Autre particularités, la plateforme comporte deux rubriques qui récapitulent les mesures prises par le secteur public et le secteur privé pour endiguer la pandémie. Aussi, elle possède un espace de factcheking pour démonter tous fakes news sur le sujet au Cameroun.
Enfin, dans un souci d’étendre son audience, les informations de sensibilisation sont également disponibles dans les langues locales, notamment le pidgin, l’Eton, le Mbouda ou encore en Maka.
« La rubrique Vrai ou Faux est la rubrique principale du site web Covid19.CM. Face à la propagation des fakes news sur les réseaux sociaux et sur le web, l’association Smart Click Africa a choisi de mettre sur pied cette plateforme qui fait du factchecking. Il s’agit de vérifier les informations ou fausses informations qui circulent sur la Covid-19 au Cameroun et d’apporter la bonne info au public. Aussi, l’on retrouve sur la plateforme des informations et messages de sensibilisation sur les méthodes de prévention et sur l’actualité de maladie au Cameroun » , expliquait Beaugas orain DJOYUM, le président de Smart Click Africa.
